Currently consisting of approximately 60 Football teams from all over South Texas. Ranging from ages 5 to 6th grade. STYFL is the largest youth football program in the Corpus Christi area.
STYFL was locally founded several years ago by Mark Everett, Kelby Lamb & Chris Martinez and it continues to grow.
STYFL is committed to developing our youth on the field and off. Each year we have strived to continue to expand our efforts in team and activity participation, as well as visibility and outreach in the community. We have hosted several tournaments and or Game Days with gate proceeds being given to causes such as American Cancer Society and Toys for Tots.
We also encourge athletics and scholastics go hand in hand. At every level, we seek to develop well-rounded young men who learn not only the fundamentals of football or cheerleading but also the importance of education in an atmosphere conducive to developing sound character while having a good time and being competitive.
With the continued support of past, present and furture participants we will be successful in becoming all that we dreamt this league to be.
STYFL is a non-profit organization that provides youth football and cheer programs for participants throughout the surrounding counties of the Coastal Bend in the South Texas Region.
We are hardly new anymore and so talked about. We started a few years ago and have grown so fast in such a small time frame to now a League of over 60 teams. South Texas Youth Football League (S.T.Y.F.L). is very proud of our up and rising football organization and our philosophy, rules, and regulations in which have made our league one of the Best by far. We expect a high level of respectful and responsible behavior from our parents, coaches, players and cheerleaders. We also expect our field officials to referee each game in a professional manner adhering to the rules of the UIL system. We have governing By-Laws in place and a great Executive Board to implement our rules.
S.T.Y.F.L. is a local, non-profit organization benefiting the children of the entire coastal bend area to include but not limited to the following areas Corpus Christi, Sinton, Annaville, Robstown, Calallen, Mathis, Hebbronville, Alice, Bishop, Ingleside, Skidmore, Benavides, San Diego, Flour Bluff, Ingleside, Central Corpus.
One of the goals of STYFL is to teach the kids the fundamentals of football, but at the same time inspire them to develop life skills of teamwork, character and good sportsmanship. The league stresses learning the valuable lessons of friendship, leadership, and self- discipline that goes far beyond the playing field. To give our young players a better understanding of the same game they will be playing in junior and high school with one day or another the vary same kids they will play against on these playing fields. That is important to them!!
Teams will be taught basic play formations used by junior and senior high school teams. By becoming familiar with the basic formations and patterns at an earlier age, players will be more skilled and knowledgeable in their upcoming playing years.
Our ultimate goal and vision is to branch out through the surrounding counties as far out as we can and not only be a great Football league but the Best and by far the BIGGEST in South Texas.
STYFL will be there to meet the needs of all of our families. We hope you will join us as your league of choice for your child(ren). In hopes for a great experience and promises of a great ride in the 2012 Season.
We won't lie to you the Competition is outstanding and you will always play a different team. More teams equals more playing time which makes it great competition for a better experience all together!!
Looking forward to a wonderful year as we get more and more teams committing to STYFL.
